LunaShade
Inspired by James Friend, ASC, BSC
It all started with a dinner in Brussels, where Friend and his gaffer Harlon Haveland were shooting with the first LunaBulbs. They explained to the Astera product team about the need of cutting light from certain areas and softening their impact in other areas. This LunaBulb accessory would need to be quick when setting it up, fully rotatable, and with the ability to modulate the light in a 360º range. Inspired by this idea and with a quick sketch drawn by James on a piece of paper, the R&D team created two LunaShades: one to selectively cut the light, and another one to modulate the texture through diffusion.
Shape the coverage
Block the light from the walls while enhancing the skin tones of your talent, add a diffused top hat to each source or play with soft lighting textures in selected areas: all of this and more, is what LunaShades allow in a clean, easy and fast way.
