Astera wins 2022 Bert Easey Technical Award
Wireless LED lighting manufacturer Astera collected the prestigious 2022 Bert Easey Technical Award which was presented at a gala event organised by the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, at the end of February.
Astera’s head of development, technical service, and product management Simon Canins collected the Award, which was specifically for the company’s Titan LED engine, praised for its “mastery of LED technology, technical perfection and quality of light output”.
The acclaimed Titan LED engine uses a combination of RGB plus mint and amber LEDs to generate a beautiful array of colours across the whole spectrum including an outstanding range of CT whites.
Other Titan features loved and appreciated by filmmaking and broadcast communities include being optimized for ultra-high TLCI, very high CRI and peak brightness.
These awards were first presented by the BSC in 1951 and renamed in 1976 in honour of the legendary Bert Easey, head of the Camera Department at Denham and Pinewood Studios and integral to the formation of the Society. The awards are a gift from the BSC Board and only given to exceptional individuals or companies making outstanding contributions in terms of endeavour or equipment, all of which made this an even more special occasion for Astera.
“Of course, we are hugely honoured to receive this,” commented Astera sales director Sebastian Bückle, adding, “all thanks go to our R ‘n’ D team for their ongoing hard work, imagination and foresight that ensures that we stay at the forefront of the fast-paced world of LED technology.”
Sebastian also highlights how the Astera brand has become synonymous with producing original and genuinely innovative designs that take on board the requests and wishes of customers and end-users.
Bert Easey Technical Award is added to a raft of others recently received by Astera, with their popular and prolific Titan Tube product voted the 2021 Pro Moviemaker ‘Gear of The Year’ winner for ‘lighting innovation’. That same product has also picked up a PLASA Award for Innovation and a PLSN Gold Star Award.
