A lighting professional of some 27 years standing, Chris was lucky enough to land the job as Head of Lighting for one of Broadway’s most acclaimed, successful and highly popular productions – Hamilton – in 2015, a role he still relishes and enjoys today. From there, he subsequently worked on all the North American productions, touring and resident, of the show up until 2020 when Covid changed everything. Like many during the pandemic period, Chris worked hard on re-inventing his work-life balance and seized the chance to learn new skills in the world of lighting for streaming and broadcast video, as that was where the lighting opportunities were during this highly uncertain time.
Since then, Robinson has built out his kit with Astera QuikSpots, QuikPunches, and AX2 LED battens, deploying them across a run of high-profile New York projects: from Hamilton’s Hudson Yards corporate shows to an Old Navy takeover in Times Square, a cascading yarn sculpture at a Lower East Side gallery, New York Fashion Week, and Diageo’s Champions Club at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

Robinson bought his first set of Astera Titan Tubes in 2020, and they quickly became one of the best investments he’s made, versatile enough to light everything from improvised streaming sets to full productions. Since 2022, he has lit corporate shows for Miguel Cervantes — the longest-running lead in Hamilton’s history — in a Hudson Yards office tower penthouse, using Titan Tubes to bring warmth and scale to a room with no traditional rigging in sight.
As the look for those shows developed, Robinson began renting Astera QuikSpots and QuikPunches from Main Light before deciding he needed a set of his own, both for Miguel’s shows and for an upcoming Guitars Over Guns video shoot. "I could not think of any other fixtures that would have worked so well," he says.

QuikPunch 在一次由 Brooklyn 制作公司 Devlin’s 承接的项目中展现了出色的适用性。该项目与 Armadillo Luxury Rugs 合作，场地位于 Lower East Side 的一处工业空间。
项目要求将地毯安装在墙面上，并在庭院中展示一件巨大的织物雕塑，同时隐藏其悬挂钢缆。Robinson 在展示墙上方设计了一个悬臂式门架结构，并将 7 台 QuikPunch 悬挂在固定于建筑结构上的 Unistrut 上。每台 QuikPunch 的重量仅略低于 7 kg。
雕塑的灯光从墙面开始，沿着层层垂落的纱线一直延伸至地面，仅凭一台轻量化灯具，便照亮了相当大的区域。
New York Fashion Week
Astera 灯具的强劲性能与便携性，在另一个项目中同样展现得淋漓尽致。New York Fashion Week 期间，Olney Gleason Gallery 在 Chelsea 举办了一场活动，Astera 灯具再次成为理想的解决方案。
由于现场没有可用于悬挂灯具的装置，Chris 使用长螺纹杆，将 QuikSpots 和 QuikPunches 固定在天花板的 Unistrut 上，为房间内的桌子及其他展示区域提供照明。
他为 Miguel Cervantes 的演出购置的 QuikSpots 和 QuikPunches，也在 Guitars Over Guns 的视频拍摄中再次派上了用场。Guitars Over Guns 是一家为年轻人提供音乐指导与 mentorship 项目的非营利组织。

在 2026 FIFA World Cup Final 期间，Robinson 使用 QuikSpots、QuikPunches 以及 Astera AX2 50 和 AX2 100 LED 条形灯，为 Diageo 的整个活动空间提供照明。此外，他还搭配了几台摇头灯，为现场增添更加热烈的派对氛围。其中，DJ 身后的大型足球装置便使用 QuikSpots 进行重点照明。
Robinson 此前从未为 molo 墙面进行过灯光设计，但通过将 AX2 垂直安装并以擦光方式照亮墙面，最终呈现出了令人惊艳的效果。
“这和从地面为砖墙打光，让阴影沿着墙面向上延伸的原理是一样的。”他说。
将灯具垂直安装后，光线能够沿水平方向扫过墙面的纹理，与平整的 molo 墙面完美契合；而弧形入口墙面则采用 QuikSpots 和 QuikPunches 进行照明。

与Sugar Sugar同行
对于 Sugar Sugar——一年一度在 Brooklyn 的 Domino Park 滨水露天剧场举办的免费户外表演艺术节——Robinson 将 QuikPunch 安装在定制的移动灯架上。这些灯架由剧场底座、脚轮、4 英尺长的桁架、一台 QuikSpot 和两台 QuikPunch 组成，可以根据需要在不同舞台之间灵活移动，为演出提供主要的侧面光。
“无论演出在哪里进行，它们都能让我把灯具带到离表演最近的位置。”他说。
Robinson 特别认可 Titan 屡获殊荣的 LED 光源引擎及其变焦功能，称其不仅能够呈现自然出色的肤色，还兼具出色的灵活性。他还表示，Astera 灯具“几乎可以用于任何场合。
